Garbo mainly wore men's clothes, and she particularly liked to wear men's Oxford shoes. She seldom wore makeup and she prioritized comfort in her clothing options.
She loved animals, and had cats, dogs, and a parrot. Two of her cats in the '30s were named Laurel and Hardy.
She had a whole bunch of Troll dolls by the 1980s, which she kept under her couch. According to her friend Sam Green, who saw one peeking up from beneath her divan, "when I bent down further and looked underneath the sofa, there was a whole row of them at least a dozen, a whole little community of them – in a kind of formation." They seemed to be in a different arrangement under the sofa whenever he came back for another visit.
She had an odd taste in food. She seemed to love some very high-brow things, while also being a picky eater. She mostly ate basics, but she loved apricots and spraaten. She was reportedly a bit of a health nut, and at several points went borderline vegetarian.
