Garbo shrine
Greta Garbo, born Greta Lovisa Gustafsson, was a Swedish-American actress who worked from the early '20s to the early '40s. She was born on September 18th, 1905 in Stockholm, making her a Virgo (which she seemed to pride herself on). She passed away in April 1990 in New York City.
She retired in 1941 at the age of 36. She was famous for her melancholic, tragic roles and persona. She is remembered as a sensitive loner, but while Garbo was a shy and solitary person, she also enjoyed the company of her friends. She was known by friends and colleagues to be lighthearted, funny, and kind despite her reputation as somber, which was shaped by typecasting and the tabloids as well as her own occassional depressive tendencies. This reputation is best encapsulated in a quote often attributed to her: "I want to be alone!" But, as per Garbo, “I never said, ‘I want to be alone,' I only said, ‘I want to be let alone! There is all the difference.”
Garbo is my favourite actress and my favourite historical figure. She holds a very special place in my heart, I resonate deeply with what is known about her, and I wanted to dedicate a space to her on my site. Virgo lesbians cross time and space to commune in the aether. :)
